2.3.11.4 Literary Devices   - Activity: Identifying Hyperbole in *The Adventures of Tom Sawyer* Instructions: Twain used a number of literary devices in his writing, but one that is prominent in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is hyperbole, or exaggeration. People exaggerate often in real life, using expressions like “I can run like the wind” and “this suitcase weighs a ton.” Tom is often prone to dramatic exaggerations, and Twain probably used this device to better characterize a mischievous boy. Review a few early and later chapters in the book, identifying five examples of hyperbole. Write these examples down in your notebook.
